About Us
WOODTURNING
Chiltern Crafts began as Hedgerow Bobbins, a wood turnery manufacturing small hand turned products. Initially set up to make bobbins for lace makers (hence the original name Hedgerow Bobbins) it also made a range of other items too including pens, small bowls and other gift ideas. The woodturnery now makes larger items and special pieces too.
Chiltern Crafts turnery is based in the heart of the Chiltern Hills, not far from High Wycombe. The wood used in many of the items made is sourced locally within the Chiltern in a sustainable way. Timber is from trees being pruned for safety or naturally fallen. Some exotic timbers are purchased from commercial sources but again only if from sustainable sources. The olive wood used in some of our pens and some lace bobbins are all from olive tree prunings between Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
Woodturning is by Peter who is a member of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain and also of the Middlesex Woodturners Association.
